ROAD SAFETY COLLECTIVE
“Road Safety Collective” is designed as a pan-India digital hub, bringing together NGOs, clubs, organisations, and individuals passionate about road safety.
Road safety is a critical issue that affects individuals, families, and communities worldwide. With the increasing number of vehicles on the roads, the importance of ensuring safety for all road users has never been more paramount. These initiatives will explore various aspects of road safety, including statistics, causes of accidents, preventive measures, the role of government and organizations, and the impact of technology on road safety. By delving into these areas, we can better understand the complexities of road safety and the necessary steps to improve it.

About Road Safety Collective
At Road Safety Collective, we believe that safe roads are a fundamental right, not a privilege. Every life matters, and every accident is preventable when the right systems, behaviours, and awareness come together.
India’s roads remain among the most dangerous in the world—not just due to infrastructure challenges, but also because of how we, as road users, engage with them. Accidents often stem from one of four core factors:
Engineering flaws, Ignorance, Negligence, and Arrogance froad useres.
Risky Driving
Risky driving refers to behaviors or actions while operating a vehicle that significantly increase the likelihood of a crash or accident.
Drunk Driving
Drunk driving occurs when a person drives a vehicle with a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) level above the legal limit. Most countries set this limit at 0.08%, although it may be lower for young or commercial drivers.
Drug-Impaired Driving
Drug-impaired driving occurs when someone operates a vehicle under the influence of drugs—whether illegal, prescription, or over-the-counter—that impair their ability to drive safely. Like alcohol, drugs can seriously affect the brain and body, making it dangerous and often deadly to drive.
Distracted Driving
Distracted driving is any activity that diverts a driver’s attention away from the road. It is a leading cause of accidents worldwide, responsible for thousands of injuries and deaths each year. Driving requires full attention—when you take your eyes, hands, or mind off the task, even for a few seconds, the results can be devastating.
Speeding
Speeding is one of the most common—and deadliest—forms of risky driving. It occurs when a driver exceeds the posted speed limit or drives too fast for road or weather conditions. While many drivers view speeding as harmless or even routine, it significantly increases the risk of crashes, injuries, and fatalities.
Drowsy Driving
Drowsy driving occurs when a person drives while fatigued or sleepy. Though it often goes unnoticed compared to drunk or distracted driving, it is just as dangerous. Driving while drowsy impairs a person’s ability to focus, react quickly, and make safe decisions—putting everyone on the road at risk.

Our Vision
Each cause of road danger has a preventive counterpart:
Engineering flaws must be addressed by authorities through careful planning and design. Negligence and arrogance are best countered through strong legal enforcement. Ignorance, the most widespread yet overlooked factor, can only be overcome through education and awareness, and that is where Road Safety Collective steps in.
Our Mission
Our mission is to fill the gap between law enforcement and road user education, fostering a culture of responsibility, empathy, and alertness on the road. Together, we are building a movement—one that educates, inspires, and saves lives.
